Why do some virtual machines or processes hang when an ISO image is used from a service console NFS share?

Solution

Broken NFS shares in the service console can cause processes to hang when files are accessed. This includes virtual machines when they use ISO images on a service console NFS share.

To solve this problem, determine why the service console lost connectivity to the NFS server. Usually this is an NFS server crash or a network connectivity problem.

You can also unmount and remount the bad server:

    umount -l < point>
    mount < point>
