SAN LUNs Not Visible in VirtualCenter UI but Visible in MUI

If the SAN LUN configuration or information changed after serverd started up, serverd may not refresh the disk information. Because VirtualCenter gets the disk information from serverd, VirtualCenter might show stale disk information (typically fewer LUNs than are actually available) for an operation like configuring an RDM disk in a virtual machine. The MUI, however, uses a different channel for retrieving this disk information, so it shows the correct LUN list.

There are two solutions to this problem:

• Restart serverd to refresh its LUN data.
  This causes VirtualCenter to show the correct LUN list.
• Use the MUI to configure the RDM disk.
