I received an error message indicating that esx.conf.WRITELOCK cannot be obtained when I tried to
perform an operation in VI Client. What does this mean?
Solution
This error message usually occurs when you try to use host
configuration. The esx.conf file has been locked for more than ten seconds by
the initrd regen process, causing other processes to fail
until the process has completed.
To resolve this error, wait 30 seconds and attempt the operation
again.
