Traffic-Shaping Configuration Is Lost When Migrating or Upgrading Virtual Machine From ESX Server 2.x to ESX Server 3.0

I've lost my traffic-shaping information after migrating my ESX Server from 2.x to 3.0. What should I do?

Solution

If you have configured the traffic shaping for a virtual machine in ESX Server 2.x, when you migrate or upgrade that virtual machine to ESX Server 3.x, the information is lost.

Workaround: Traffic shaping is now configured on a per-portgroup basis in ESX Server 3.x. After upgrading or migrating, set the traffic-shaping parameters in the virtual machine's portgroup.
