What is the recommended configuration for using Microsoft Clustering Service (MSCS) with ESX Server 2.5.x?

Solution

If you are using MSCS with raw device mappings (RDMs) on ESX Server 2.5.2, you must use Physical Compatibility Mode for shared disks (and not Virtual Compatibility Mode).

If you want to use RDM in a cluster environment, you must upgrade to ESX Server 2.5.2.
