VMware ACE Package Installation Fails if the Installation Path is Too Long

An end user is trying to install a package created with VMware ACE Manager, but the package installation fails. What could be happening?

Solution

There is a fixed limit on the number of characters allowed in the destination path when an end user is installing a VMware ACE package. If the path is too long, installation fails. In some circumstances, there is no warning message.

The length limit ? 255 characters ? applies to the deepest folder in the set of folders containing components of the package, which is
\Virtual Machines\

To work around the problem, be sure the end user installs the package in a folder with a shorter path.
