Error Message During Installation: error 1603: error installing Windows installer engine

Details

On systems running Windows Server 2003 SP1, launching the VirtualCenter Server, VI Client, VMware Update Manager, or unified installers produces the InstallShield error message:

error 1603: error installing Windows installer engine

Solution

The error message is harmless and can be ignored. Click OK to continue the installation.
