InstallShield Sometimes Stops Responding When Upgrading From Any VMware Consolidated Backup Version Prior to 1.5

Details

While I am upgrading VMware Consolidated Backup from an earlier version to the 1.5 release, InstallShield stops responding.

Solution

To work around this issue:
  1. Exit the installer. If your VCB proxy host is frozen or locked, you might need to hard reboot the system.
  2. Uninstall the version of VCB that already exists on your system (Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs).
  3. Install the newer version of VCB.
